New multilingual videos about navigating the Victorian health system

The Health Translations Directory has just published 13 new videos about navigating the Victorian Health System. Victoria’s health system offers a vast range of services and support to Victorians across the state. Whether you are seeing a doctor, going to hospital for surgery or in need of emergency or crisis support, these videos outline the services that are available. They also highlight the benefits of planning ahead and show new ways to coordinate your healthcare.

The videos were developed by the Department of Health and Human Services in conjunction with Polaron and SBS and are available in English with subtitles and transcriptions in 20 different languages.

To complement the videos, the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health has developed three glossaries, translated into seven languages. They cover the most commonly used terms in the areas of:

  • Child, family and relationship services
  • Seeing a doctor specialist or health professional
  • Mental health services

These glossaries support the translated versions of the Victorian health system videos. They are written in simple English, are bilingual and are available in the following languages: Arabic, Assyrian, Dari, Farsi (Persian), Karen, Khmer and Vietnamese. Below are the individual links to different topics. Please promote these resources to your staff and refugee and migrant communities.
