Consumer Reference Group

In May 2003, the Outer East Health & Community Support Alliance (OEHCSA) Consumer, Carer and Community Engagement Strategy was published to identify ways to engage consumers, carers, and the community generally in OEHCSA activities.  The strategy reflects  a  ‘partnership’ philosophy that has underpinned the OEHCSA from its inception, and documents partner agency’s commitment to work in partnership with the community, to enhance planning, implementation and evaluation of our work.

The OEHCSA Consumer Reference Group (CRG) aims to bring the consumer, care and community voice to the work of the OEHCSA.  The CRG is a valuable resource for OEHCSA partners to ensure that the perspective of people using local health and community services is reflected in planning for and delivery of local services.  Evidence tells us that if people have choice in their health care options, including the type of care they receive and when, where and how it is delivered, their health outcomes are improved. Membership of the CRG provides opportunity to ensure that this type of person centred approach develops and grows in the Outer East and that as a result local services better meet the needs and aspirations of the local community.
