Challenging Myths to Change the Story: Exposing the myths behind Violence against Women
This project is being jointly designed and implemented by women with a lived experience of violence, the Consumer Reference Group, Women’s Health East (WHE) and Eastern Domestic Violence Service (EDVOS). We all share a common vision of ensuring that women’s lived experience of violence validates and reinforces the current theory driving efforts across Victoria and Australia to prevent violence against women.
The, Change the Story’ framework highlights that within our society there are hidden and engrained social values, social structures and social practices that continually block efforts to challenge and prevent violence against women.
This project seeks collate and present women’s stories in a way that shines a spotlight on how these social values, structures and practices underpin and reinforce some of the most commonly held myths about violence against women.
Co-Design and Engagement: A Personal Perspective
This project will create an online resource that takes a consumer, carer and community perspective to best practice in co-design and engagement. Short videos will be developed that provide individual personal accounts of people’s experiences of participating in co-design and engagement process. Based on their experience and recommendations links will be provided to relevant research, practice tools and resources.
